The Tools
These tools come from the Field Guide in Rebels and Tribes. They are designed to help leaders and teams become human-rooted: to grow as leaders who are present, interested, and empowering, to coach the people around them, and to turn conflict into progress.
1. PIE LEADERSHIP SELF-DIAGNOSTIC
Get an honest read on how present, interested, and empowering you are, so you know exactly where to grow first. Rate yourself in about 15 minutes, find your lowest section, and choose one behavior to change this week.
2. GREAT COACH = GREAT LEADER
Your guide to becoming an awesome coach. Learn what coaching is and what it isn't, the five common patterns coaching interrupts, and AJ's five coaching methods, with the questions to ask in the moment. The goal is to grow the people you lead into their own best resource instead of keeping them dependent on you.
3. THE PRODUCTIVE CONFLICT SESSION
Give a team in conflict a shared set of rules so hard conversations produce progress instead of more dysfunction. The four rules are Be Specific, Listen to Understand, Don't Take Offense, and Don't Assume Motives. The guide walks you through running the session the way AJ does at Evergreen.
4. PIE TEAM SURVEY
Find out how the people you lead experience you, and where that differs from how you see yourself. You choose up to 20 raters, someone else collects their answers so they stay anonymous, and you compare their view to your own Self-Diagnostic. The widest gap shows you exactly where to grow.
